Getting From Copenhagen Airport to the City

Metro M2 (fastest and cheapest)
The Metro departs from Level 2 of the airport terminal (follow signs). Takes you directly to Kongens Nytorv in the city centre in 14–15 minutes. Runs 24/7, every 5 minutes.
Cost: One 3-zone ticket (DKK 36, ~€5) covers the journey and is valid for 75 minutes. This is the same ticket that covers buses and trains in the city. Or buy a City Pass 24 h (DKK 90, ~€12) if you plan multiple trips.
Where it goes: Airport (M2 start) → Øresund Station → DR Byen → Fields → Amagerbro → Islands Brygge → Vesterport → Nørreport → Kongens Nytorv (city centre). Total 15 stops.
Kongens Nytorv is at the east end of Strøget, the main shopping street. From there, your hotel or nearby attractions are usually 5–10 min walk.
Regional train (slightly slower, similar price)
The regional train (DSB S-train) also runs from the airport to København H (Copenhagen Central Station) in ~15 minutes. Cost is the same (DKK 36, ~€5 for a 3-zone ticket). Central Station is at the west end of Strøget, near Tivoli and Rådhuspladsen.
Metro to Kongens Nytorv is slightly more central if you’re exploring; Central Station is better if you’re heading directly to a hotel or Tivoli.
Taxi or ride-hailing
Taxis from the airport are metered and cost around DKK 300–350 (~€40–47) in light traffic, or DKK 400–500 (~€54–67) in rush hour (07:00–10:00, 16:00–19:00). Uber offers no advantage. Not recommended unless you have luggage, travelling at 02:00, or on a tight schedule. Metro is faster in rush hour.
Car rental
Car rental is available at the airport. Don’t use a car in central Copenhagen — parking is expensive (DKK 50–100/h, ~€7–13), congestion is high, and cycling/metro is far faster. Rent only if you plan day trips outside the city (e.g., castles, beaches).
Private transfer
Some hotels offer airport transfer services (DKK 200–400 return, ~€27–54). Book through your hotel.
The city-card angle
The Copenhagen Card 24–120 h includes unlimited public transport, so the airport metro is covered (no need to buy a separate ticket). If you’re arriving for a 2–3 day trip, buy the card at the airport (DKK 479–879, ~€64–118) and activate it on the metro.
Metro is the move: fast (15 min), cheap (€5), runs 24/7. No luggage worries, no traffic. If you’re groggy from the flight, follow the M2 signs from baggage claim. You’ll be in the city centre in 15 min.
